SpecimensCollection description
Richard Frey's worldwide Diptera collection. Ca. 10.000 species, including type material of some 700 taxa. Mostly material acquired by Frey, but some species have been added in the 1960s. A preliminary catalogue of species/taxa names is available for this collection: https://www.luomus.fi/fi/node/2131 ... see links on page for subsequent parts of the catalogue. A majority of the type specimens have been databased, but not photographed. Data is available through GBIF (dataset https://www.gbif.org/dataset/489cf6d8-4171-46bd-94b1-ca514fb2043f) or the Finnish National Biodiversity Portal (https://laji.fi/en/observation/map?collectionId=HR.163). Data quality description
Largely identified by R. Frey himself. Most specimens have not been examined after Frey's death in the 1950s, thus the identifications are largely sensu circa 1920-1955. (en)
Notes for collection data
Identification reliability varies strongly within the collection. A few families or other taxa have been recently examined and re-identified, but most are in need of revision. With few exceptions, all Finnish material originally kept in Coll. Frey have been moved into the MZH/Luomus Diptera Fennica collection.License

15.09.2023 10:18Sensitive observation data have undergone obfuscation including spatial aggregation so that precise locations and other sensitive information is not publicly available. The precise location, place names, dates, names of observers and other information may have been obscured or removed. Read more about sensitive observations.
Data may have a research embargo (usually 2–4 years), during which data may have been hidden or obscured as described above. Data producer-owners may have chosen to permanently obfuscate all or part of their data.
To gain access to non-obscured data, you may make a data request. Non-obscured data is also available to Finnish authorities
