Collection description

Database on nests of common Birds of Prey (diurnal raptors, owls). Includes details of the nest, nest site, nest condition, nest visits and the breeding result. (fi)

Data come mainly from experienced ringers specialized in the birds of prey. Nest data are checked and curated at FMNH before accepting them in the nest register. (en)

Pesätiedot tulevat pääosin kokeneilta petolinturengastajilta. Tiedot tarkistetaan ja tarvittaessa korjataan Luomuksessa ennen niiden hyväksymistä pesärekisteriin. (fi)

Basis for concealment or quarantine

Contains data on exact nest sites of raptor species some of which are threatened in Finland and/or included in Annex 1 of the European Union's Birds Directive. Reasons for data concealment include threats of persecution, collecting and unauthorised nest visits. Embargo is 0 years temporarily during the 4th Breeding Bird Atlas of Finland (2022–2025), otherwise it is 4 years due to threats and research purposes. (en)

(fi)

Sensitive observation data have undergone obfuscation including spatial aggregation so that precise locations and other sensitive information is not publicly available. The precise location, place names, dates, names of observers and other information may have been obscured or removed. Read more about sensitive observations.

Data may have a research embargo (usually 2–4 years), during which data may have been hidden or obscured as described above. Data producer-owners may have chosen to permanently obfuscate all or part of their data.

To gain access to non-obscured data, you may make a data request. Non-obscured data is also available to Finnish authorities
