Aineisto on kerätty vuotuisten Ylä-Lapin riekkolaskentojen yhteydessä. Metsähallitus organisoi laskennat. Laskenta kohdistuu erityisesti riekkoihin, mutta myös metsäkanalintuhavainnot kirjataan. Havainnot tallennetaan havaintokohdassa kännykkäsovellukseen, josta ne edelleen tallentuvat suoraan norjalaisten (NINA) ylläpitämään tietokantaan (Hønsefuglportalen). Havainnot saadaan tietokanannasta edelleen haettua exceliin havaintoriveinä.Collection quality
