Convolvulus sepium

Description

Hedge bindweeds are perennial climbing herbs that can be several metres long. Its leaves are cordate, entire and large. A feature distinguishing hedge bindweeds from other climbing bindweeds are the two large bracts at the base of the calyx, which cover the calyx. The long-stalked funnel-shaped flowers are solitary and axillary. The big white flowers are characteristic of the subspecies sepium whereas the subspecies spectabilis has 5–6 cm wide pink flowers. Other common names of hedge bindweeds include larger bindweed, bellbine, Rutland beauty, hedge false bindweed and wild morning glory.
