Lactuca serriola

Description

Prickly lettuce, an annual or biennial, grey green prickly herb, is anchored to the substrate by a sturdy taproot which grows slowly over the summer, sometimes to over a metre tall, but which on poor sites may remain around twenty centimetres tall.
